DISCUSS REVIEW
MP3 players are gadgets that have rapidly become a must have item. Ask just about anyone these days, and they will tell you they just can’t survive without their MP3 player. As such, manufacturers are entering a battle to develop the smallest, fastest, and greatest products available. From a consumer’s point of view this is fantastic! There is just so much variety and it is constantly updated. The challenge for everyone is to get the most out of their product for the money they spend.

Roughly a year ago we had the opportunity to look at the X-Micro Video MP3 400 Player and were quite impressed with it. Now we have received X-Micro’s latest offering, the X-VDO MP4 F610 Player, and first impressions are that this player is even better.

Physically this player is slimmer and lighter than the previous player, with overall dimensions of only 44 x 76 x 16.5mm. It’s all black casing with chrome-like piping, furthers this slim line appearance. The buttons are all a matte silver and lie flush with the surface of the player. Instead of the joystick on the previous player, this updated version has more of a touch pad navigation system, which is a lot easier to use.

Most noticeably different is the larger full colour display; previously only a 96x64 OLED display, it is now a 128x128 Dot Matrix 262,000 OLED display. This player also comes with larger memory capacities of 512MB, 1GB, or 2GB options, and uses a Lithium Ion battery that is charged via the USB 2.0 connection rather than an AA battery.
