Frame Rates play a huge role in game play these days and every extra frame just adds to the playing quality. Every gamer knows that more frames per second help make playing the game easier and more enjoyable. It takes a lot of skill and luck to sniper you enemy in the head at 20Fps, but taking the same shot sitting on 100Fps is going to result in a head shot. This is the common case for first person shooters like Unreal Tournament and Quake III. So how do you get out of the emergency lane and onto the speedway? Easy spend up to $1000 AUD and get a GeForce2 Ultra or even better a GeForce3! Unfortunately this isnt possible for most people (me being one of them). So how do we get onto the speedway the cheap way?

Most people use that word that has become so very common in the computer terms dictionary, yep Overclock. Overclocking the CPU is very common and can give an amazing increase in performance. RAM is also another component that can liven up your system, but there is another component that you can overclock for significant speed increase, you guessed it, the Graphics Card. A popular graphics card to overclock are the NVIDA GeForce2s. This is because the GeForce range of cards has been well known for taking high frequencies very well. Not only does the GeForce GPU (core) overclock extremely well but so does the DDR RAM (memory).

The highest clocked GeForce is the GeForce2 Ultra which has a GPU (core) speed of 250MHz and a memory speed of 460MHz, however the memory on most Ultras can be easily pushed to 500Mhz. But to get fast frames youre not going to spend $1000 AUD on an Ultra, youre going to purchase a GeForce2 GTS with a 200MHz GPU (core) and 333MHz DDR (memory). Then you use that word Overclock till the card has reached its limits. Now Im going to show you one way this can be achieved.
