DISCUSS REVIEW
Today we are checking out the new Antec Nine Hundred “Two” which is an updated version of the original case. The updates included improved cooling and an all black design along with a few other minor tweaks here and there. Those that liked the original are surely going to enjoy this update…

For me case buying is a lot like car buying, in the sense that looks come first, followed by features, and performance. While the latter two are likely more important, I just could not own a car that I found unattractive, and I have found much the same with computer cases. This is probably the case with most buyers and really it does help to narrow the options down to a short list.

Depending on what purpose the case is for will also play a large part in the buying process, as I use a very different type of case for my work PC when compared to my gaming PC. This is why case manufacturers such as Antec, offer a wide range of different cases, allowing them to target gamers, power users and general users.

Antec has been targeting the gaming crowd with three distinct cases, the Three Hundred, Nine Hundred and Twelve Hundred. These three cases all feature a similar design, while they vary in size and features. The Antec Three Hundred is a smaller mid-sized tower which costs just $60 US, while the Nine Hundred is a slightly larger mid-sized tower with improved cooling at a slightly higher price of $110 US. Then there is the full-size ATX version called the Twelve Hundred, which is much larger with even more cooling and costs $180 US.

For gamers on the move the Nine Hundred is a more practical solution, as it is not only more compact than the Twelve Hundred, but it is also 35% lighter. The Nine Hundred has sold well over the past year and Antec are naturally keen to continue the success that it has been having. Therefore, the Nine Hundred is being refreshed with the “Nine Hundred Two”, featuring a number of small design improvements.

The big improvement that Antec is pushing with the Nine Hundred Two is the enhanced cooling performance. While the number of fans and the fan sizes have remained the same, the users now have better control over the fans, while the case itself is better ventilated. Antec has also gone the extra mile by painting the steel black inside and out, while also adding dust filters to the fans. These improvements have jacked up the retail price by around $50 US, seeing the Nine Hundred Two retail for around $160 US.
